Neurotoxins have been used in medicine for decades. Thousands of studies have been published over the years, they have been widely researched medicines in the world. The three we use are FDA approved in the United States and many countries for therapeutic and cosmetic use.
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours. Results may last up to 4 months for moderate to severe frown lines.
Neurotoxin injections are technique-sensitive treatments. When administered by a licensed, trained, medical expert, results should look natural and subtle. You should still look like yourself, only with less noticeable lines.
Some patients report the injections feels like a pinch. Ice is used to help numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, a topical numbing ointment may be applied prior to injections.
The injection process takes a quick 10 minutes. During your consultation, treatment goals will be discussed and your cosmetic injection specialist will perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you.
Treatment requires minimal downtime. You will be asked to avoid strenuous activity, exercise, exposure to heat, massages, and facials for 24 hours. Also, it is recommended not to lay down for 4 hours after injections.
Common side effects include temporary pain at the injection site, inflammation, redness, bleeding, and bruising. Less common side effects include infection, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, neck pain, droopy eyelids, eyelid swelling, and brow drooping.

BOTOX®, Xeomin® and Dysport® are contraindicated in women that are pregnant or breast-feeding. Also, individuals with neuromuscular disorders, medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response, individuals undergoing immunosuppressive therapy, or have an allergy to the medicine – should not be treated.
